Maple Leaf Gardens is in the middle of a complete overhaul.

The trucks are still lined up on Maple Leaf Garden’s old rink but the athletics department is already dreaming big about hosting a national championship there.

Director of athletics Ivan Joseph is looking to bid for every sports championship, with hockey being the first priority.

The first opportunity for a national championship at the Gardens would be in the 2013-2014 season.

Whether fans would sit in the original, cramped seats is still undecided as the unmarred seats are in a warehouse ready to be auctioned off.
