More zones means less student space at Ryerson

As the famous philosopher Kanye West once said, “don’t let me get in my zone.”

More like “Ryerson won’t let me get into the zones.” In a school hard-pressed for space, why are we constantly giving it up to outside groups?

New audit on campus accessibility

The Ryerson Students’ Union (RSU) is planning an accessibility audit after the Student Learning Centre (SLC) was criticized for inaccessibility last week.

Ryerson falls behind on accessibility

Lara Wong is a first-year student at Ryerson. She relies on a walker to get around campus. She lives in a Pitman Hall room renovated for her needs, including a roll-in shower.

Wong has carefully planned her route to classes based on accessibility and spent much of her first week on campus mapping it out with her support worker.

Sam the Record Man will light up the city again

The famous Sam the Record Man sign will return by the end of the year if everything goes as planned.

Sunset Neon is the company tasked with rebuilding the sign. Account manager Tony Bianchi said they hit a few obstacles along the way.

OPINION: Breastfeeding spaces at Ryerson

How hard is it to find a place to breastfeed at Ryerson? Surprisingly, pretty hard. Even getting a straight answer from faculty and staff was nearly impossible. And some campus staff don’t know that breastfeeding spaces exist.

After a day of trying to find breastfeeding spaces for student-parents, both designated and not, I found that spaces that were supposed to be available weren’t and I’d have to wait hours for the others.
