Last year, the CIS Toronto Selects comprised of members from the Ryerson Rams, Toronto Varsity Blues and York Lions, who played a one game against the World Juniors out of the MasterCard Centre in Etobicoke, Ont.
Global Spectrum Facility Management’s Dan Berger said he’s excited and honored the facility will be hosting the event.
“The World Junior Hockey Championships are a special event not only to Torontonians but all Canadians, and to be able to offer fans the opportunity to see the team play in an iconic hockey venue like Ryerson’s Mattamy Athletic Centre, former Maple Leaf Gardens, is truly incredible.”
Ryerson Rams men’s hockey coach Graham Wise shared Berger’s enthusiasm.
“This is a remarkable opportunity for our student-athletes and an experience that they will never forget.”
Wise said the chance to connect with an organization as prestigious as Hockey Canada is something he relishes in and is just another example of Ryerson Athletics “providing student-athletes with unique and fulfilling opportunities on and off the ice.”
