Former Ryerson Ram makes his mark in France

Every kid who hits the ice at a young age wants to make the National Hockey League (NHL).

Last year, 888 skaters played in the NHL for at least one game. With well over one million registered hockey players in North America alone, the odds of getting to the top level is unquestionably low. That doesn’t stop players from chasing their dreams at the professional level.

Ryerson 2016-17 race car team to compete one last time

Ryerson’s formula racing team is driving their 2016-17 student-built race car for the last time on Saturday in a competition against other Canadian universities.

Ryerson’s chapter of Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), a student race car design and building competition, builds a new race car from scratch every year.

RTA’s Victor Findlay on the way up

When Ryerson introduced the sport media program to the school of radio and television arts in 2014, there was a bit of mystery to the program. But in March of 2014, Sportsnet gifted Ryerson with close to $750,000 to build upon the program. It truly was the future of the industry.

Enter Victor Findlay, a fourth-year Ryerson sport media student who has become the exact student the school was hoping to create.

First year spells change for Ryerson baseball player

If you take a look at the Ryerson baseball team roster, you’ll notice many of the players are from Ontario – Toronto, Markham or Scarborough, for example – but this year, the team has a new player who’s neither from Ontario, nor from Canada.

Aidan Dolan made the trek over the southern border from the U.S. to start his first year at Ryerson this fall. Dolan hails from Buffalo Grove, Ill., a town just north of Chicago.

Rams narrowly beat Reds in pre-season game

The Ryerson Rams men’s hockey team overcame a roller-coaster pre-season game against the McGill Varsity Reds on Saturday, taking the 4-3 win at the Mastercard Centre.

The first period started slowly as both teams took about eight minutes to get their feet underneath them, but all that changed after an offsetting pair of roughing penalties were called following a post-whistle skirmish. The rough-and-tumble first period ended scoreless, with McGill on their second power play to start the second frame.
