Ryerson Rams Care, a community outreach program created by Ryerson Athletics, recently launched the I AM Ryerson campaign to send kids from priority neighbourhoods to the university’s summer day camp.
The program is aiming to raise enough money to fund 100 spots for children selected by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada.
Ryerson-branded apparel is being sold at the SLC with 100 per cent of the sales going towards the cause. The campaign launched on March 15 and the clothing sale began on March 19. Clothing sales will continue until supplies run out.
I AM Ryerson is being sponsored by Toronto pub Duke of Somerset and Boston clothing brand, Brand 47. Duke of Somerset, the main sponsor, is offering $10 coupons to be given out with every purchase. Some of the apparel was donated by Brand 47.
“Partnering up with the sponsors will elevate the profile of Ryerson Rams Care,” said Jeff Giles, director of business development at Ryerson Rams Care. Giles said that having sponsors will attract more students to purchase apparel and serve the greater good by sending a deserving kid to camp this summer.
