Infographic: A brief history of LGBTQ representation in video games

This week, The Ryersonian explores  LGBTQ representation in video games, and how a new wave of LGBTQ gamers are finding new game characters to relate to.

From lesbian character Ellie in The Last of Us, to Grand Theft Auto‘s homophobic slurs, we pinpoint the various approaches to the LGBTQ community and what it means for them as a whole.

This got us thinking: how long have LGBTQ game characters been around? As a follow-up to this, we have created an infographic exploring a brief history of LGBTQ video game representation. Be sure to click and scroll through the games to get more information.

Be sure to read Bethany Van Lingen’s article in this week’s paper or online.
