Last week, Ryerson’s Engineering Competition hit a record-breaking number of participants, and the tasks took many competitors by surprise. Hundreds of Ryerson engineering students spent their Friday night at the George Vari Engineering and Computing Centre, working to create solutions for unexpected challenges.

The two competitions held at 6 p.m. on Nov.14 were the junior and senior design competitions.

The junior design competition, targeted for first and second-year students, challenged teams to create a car that would go down a ramp with various terrains. The senior design competition for upper-year students asked teams to create a working prototype of a toilet-paper cutting and folding machine.

Find out how the teams did here.
