Three Ryerson Rams men’s basketball players won individual honours at the annual Ontario University Athletics (OUA) awards breakfast on Friday at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.
Point guard Jahmal Jones earned his second OUA East first-team all-star selection after averaging career-highs in points (19.1) and assists (5.0) per game.
“I’m not really proud of myself because after four years, I have only played in one Wilson Cup,” said Jones, referring to the Rams 2011-2012 season. “To be honest their isn’t much to be happy about.”
Adika Peter-McNeilly was named to the OUA East second-team and Jean-Victor Mukama won OUA East Rookie of the Year.
“Obviously, I’m proud because it’s not something that every rookie gets to have,” said Mukama. “I thank my teammates, practicing with them, make me better.”
Mukama, also named to the OUA East rookie team, became Ryerson’s third player to win Rookie of the Year, and the first since Boris Bakovic in 2006-07.
Harlan is in the final year of the Bachelor of Journalism program at Ryerson University (2014).
