In less than two weeks, one of the biggest university sports events in the country is coming to Ryerson.
And to celebrate the much anticipated CIS Men’s Basketball Final 8 Championship, the Canadian version of “March Madness,” the Ryerson Rams hosted a kickoff event on Gould Street Thursday afternoon.
Despite the cold weather, students still came out for the free hot chocolate, live entertainment from the Ryerson Punjabi Association, Rams T-shirt giveaways and basketball games with Eggy.
Athletics director Ivan Joseph and president Sheldon Levy also made appearances alongside the men’s basketball team, who interacted with fans. This is the first time that Ryerson will be hosting a major CIS championship. The event will be held in the Mattamy Athletic Centre.
The Ram’s first CIS Final 8 game will be on March 12 at the MAC.
