Spring break is just around the corner and although you may be dreaming of warm weather and sandy beaches, most of us will be at home — where winter is still very much present.

Snuggling up with a good book is a great way to escape the polar vortex. However, finding the perfect book can sometimes prove to be a challenge. Here at The Ryersonian, we have banded together to share some of our favourite books and why we love them so much.

If memoirs are your jam we have you covered. But if good ol’ fiction is more your thing there are five to choose from. If you want something that will be make you laugh or cry, look no further.

So pull up a comfy chair, prepare a hot beverage and get ready to be transported to another world.

This story was first published in The Ryersonian, a weekly newspaper produced by the Ryerson School of Journalism, on February 12, 2014.
