For me, it was just a regular Sunday afternoon at home. It’s usually a ritual of mine to take a glorious nap after church, but this day I was unable to. As I switched into my pyjamas, and got in bed a loved one texted me saying “Kobe Bryant just died…My heart is f****d up.”

‘I cry regularly during interviews’: New York Times journalist tells Ryerson audience
Canada’s bureau chief for the New York Times, Catherine Porter, said she cries regularly during interviews with sources who’ve suffered traumatic experiences.
Porter was a keynote speaker at Covering Disasters: A Critical Lens, a Ryerson University journalism conference held on Tuesday.
