There are a lot of events going on in the city that are sure to make your weekend “so fetch.” Play board games, stroll through a market or shop until you drop at the MaRS Centre atrium. Check out our top picks of things to do this weekend.


1. Mean Girls quote-along movie screening

Watch a movie where you are actually allowed to yell out your favourite lines. Mean Girls will be shown at Hot Docs on Friday. Comedian Cameron Maitland is set to guide the audience through the screening. He’ll let you know when to shout out, “You go Glen Coco!”

2. Fall Home Show

Now that it’s officially autumn, it might be time to spruce up your living spaces with some new home décor pieces. With over 300 retailers attending the Fall Home Show, you can find some inspiration for every space in your home.

Location: Enercare Centre, Exhibition Place Date: Sept. 23 – 25 Time: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Cost: $15 for adults

3. Liberty Village Market

Take a stroll through the open-air market in the heart of Liberty Village. With 45 vendors attending, you can shop for fashion items, home décor, art and much more.

Location: Liberty Towers Presentation Centre Date: Sept. 24 Time: 11 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Cost: Free

4. Walking food tour in Roncesvalles

Enjoy a guided food tour in the Roncesvalles neighbourhood. This walking tour stops at the best cafés in the area for delicious food and sweet treats. You can learn interesting facts about the area while sampling food at five different locations.

Location: 2201 Dundas Street West Date: Sept. 25 Time: Only one tour starting at 2:30 p.m. Cost: $30

5. Etsy: Made in Canada Toronto

You can shop for some handmade and vintage goods this weekend at the MaRS Centre atrium. 130 of the top Canadian Etsy retailers will be on hand, featuring unique pieces ranging from jewellery to home décor. You can also participate in free do-it-yourself workshops.

6. Geekz United – Free all day board game event

If you’re looking for a spot to play some board games and video games while also eating bar food, Geekz United is bringing a variety of games to Kramer’s Bar and Grill and setting up consoles for video gaming.
