Classes have resumed in Victoria Building rooms 203 and 205 after they were treated for bed bugs over the weekend.
According to Ryerson’s Facilities Management and Development (FMD) department, the first, second and third floors of the building were steam treated by Orkin Canada exterminators over the weekend.
Room 205 was then heat-treated on Saturday, raising the temperature of the room to kill any surviving bugs, before the banding around the desks was replaced, effectively sealing the crevices where the bugs were seen nesting.
FMD says this is a temporary measure until the furniture can be replaced.
On Monday, Orkin’s K9 Unit cleared the rooms of the infestation before classes were allowed to resume.
