Wake for Don Obe to be held at Hart House

A wake in memory of Don Obe will be held next week at Hart House.

Obe is known throughout the Ryerson community for his work as the former chair of the school of journalism and for founding the Ryerson Review of Journalism in 1984, which is still in publication today.

He died on Nov. 7.

Obe worked for a variety of magazines and newspapers including The Windsor Star, Vancouver Sun, Maclean’s and Toronto Life.

Obe was also the recipient of the National Magazine Awards Foundation’s 1993 Foundation Award for Outstanding Achievement, often considered the industry’s highest honour.

Students, colleagues, alumni, and admirers are invited to attend the wake.

The wake will take place Nov. 21 at 5:30 p.m. in the East Common Room of Hart House.
