What you could buy for the price of the RSU sign

You know that giant RSU sign outside the student centre? We made a video about it. And wrote an article, too. Check them out here.

It cost the Students’ Union $5,000. A fortune? Maybe not. But here are five examples of what else you could buy with that kind of cheddar.

1) Every textbook you’ll ever need – and then some

The Government of Canada estimates the average yearly cost of textbooks for a university student is $800 to $1,000, which means five grand could cover you through your whole degree.

2) 3,258 mozza sticks at the Imperial Pub

That’s 543 orders. Plus tip.

3) 20-months’ worth of campus food

Ryerson meal plans start at $250 per month. That’s a lot of lukewarm fish.

4) Three years and eight months of unlimited transit

A post-secondary TTC pass costs $112 per month. That means that if you pawned the RSU sign you could get yourself subway fare for 44 months and still have a cool $72 left over.

You could also rent out an entire streetcar. We guess. Try it!

5) Four iPhone 6 Plusses
