Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) announced Monday that effective immediately, CEO Pierre Lafontaine is leaving.
CIS president Therese Quigley made the announcement saying of Lafontaine, “His positive relationships with the sport community and government officials have assisted the organization in strengthening our partnerships within the sport system.”
Lafontaine joined the CIS in 2013 and in his time developed new organization structures for the governance of the CIS.
“I am proud of the work our team has accomplished. The organization is in a strong position to move ahead,” Lafontaine said. ““I feel the time is right for me to explore new challenges and opportunities.”
“CIS is in a better position to move forward as a result of these accomplishments, and we are grateful to Pierre for his meaningful contributions,” said Quigley.
The CIS will begin searching for a new CEO immediately.
