This year’s Indian Holi Festival was officially on March 6, but Ryerson’s Indian Student’s association couldn’t have asked for better spring weather for yesterday’s celebration on Gould Street.
Dozens of Ryerson and George Brown students came together on Wednesday to shower each other in 12 kilograms of coloured powder.
“It’s a celebration of colours and just bringing everyone together,” says Pirasha Sritharan of Ryerson’s Indian Students Association.
Holi is the traditional Indian holiday to mark the end of the winter season. Participants celebrate by colouring each other with vibrant powder, dancing and eating traditional festival food.
