Ryerson University’s Integrated Risk Management (IRM) department sends regular emails to the Ryerson community which include security watch notifications about “high-risk” incidents.

Tanya Poppleton, manager of security and emergency services, said IRM prioritizes notifications that recognize the importance of getting the proper facts out to the community.

“[IRM] is always evaluating what we can do better,” Poppleton said.

The Ryersonian took data from the published security alerts collected from the last two years to breakdown figures that stand out.

The same data was used to generate a map that pinpoints each published security incident from March 2014 to present.

Click the button on the top left of the map to view a sidebar that categorizes the types of reports seen on and around Ryerson University’s campus over the past two years.

This is a joint byline. Ryersonian staff are responsible for the news website edited and produced by final-year undergraduate and graduate journalism students at Ryerson University. It features all the content from the weekly campus newspaper, The Ryersonian, and distributes news and online multimedia, including video newscasts from RyersonianTV. Ryersonian.ca also provides videos, images, and other interactive material in partnership with the School of Journalism.
