In the wake of police crackdowns on civil liberties across the globe, the role of police and state in societies is being critically observed. Ryerson’s Studio for Media Activism and Critical Thought, a new research and creation hub for students, faculty and community, housed in the RTA School of Media, launches their first event today. It presents a forum featuring OISE professor and activist Dr. Rinaldo Walcott, documentary filmmaker Amar Wala, new media artist Cheryl L’Hirondelle, and photographer Abdi Osman.
The discussion will focus on how they address this issue of power and privilege in society in their respected fields.
The event will take place at 7 p.m. at Ryerson’s School of Image Arts in room 307.
