Toronto Fire Services was called to Maple Leaf Gardens around 7:40 p.m. with reports of people coughing and having difficulty breathing.
One person has been taken to hospital with “minor respiratory irritation,” says Toronto Paramedic Services.
They say that the patient experienced irritation at the back of the throat.
Toronto Fire Services say that they are investigating the source of the fumes, a scent that a The Ryersonian reporter, Erin Petrow, describes as smelling like “vinegar.”
Loblaws employees are being sheltered in buses across from Maple Leaf Gardens to keep warm until they can arrange a way home.
The MAC tweeted that they will be closed for the night and will reopen Thursday at 6 a.m.
