The Ryerson Rams men’s basketball team is headed to the Final 8 semifinals after dominating the Alberta Golden Bears 88-62 at the national tournament in Halifax on Thursday.
The fifth-seeded Rams sank Alberta with the help of their excellent three-point shooting, going 20 for 44 for a 45.5 shooting percentage from afar. Star guards Manny Diressa and Jean-Victor Mukama led the way with 11 three-pointers between the two of them, landing 25 and 21 points respectively. The Golden Bears made fewer than half the three-point attempts, going six for 22.
Ryerson started the game with a 31-point explosive first quarter, and followed up with a great third quarter with 21 points.
This year’s team has faced injuries all season and has worked hard to make its fourth straight Final 8 appearance.
The team plays the Carleton Ravens in a rematch from the OUA Wilson Cup final today at 6 p.m., to be broadcast on Sportsnet.
