Statement from the university on injunction hearing between Ryerson and the RSU
The university respects the court’s decision to grant the Ryerson Students’ Union (RSU) an injunction.
The interlocutory injunction means that Ryerson will continue to recognize the RSU as the official student government of full-time undergraduate and all graduate students until the resolution of the legal claim by the RSU.
In his ruling, Justice Koehnen indicated that both Ryerson University and the RSU can come together to discuss fiscal controls and governance concerns and that he is available to assist both parties with this matter. The university looks forward to working with the RSU to ensure that a model of good governance and financial accountability forms the basis of a relationship that puts the student experience first.
