Flags at OPSEU head office were lowered to half-mast Friday for Amy Stiles, a member of Local 237 who died in a tragic car accident as she returned from Thursday’s Queen’s Park rally in support of striking college faculty. Local 237 picket lines at Conestoga College came down on Friday as a show of respect.

OPSEU President, Warren (Smokey) Thomas offered his deepest condolences to Amy Stiles’ family, including her husband and three young children. “I am heartbroken for Amy’s family, friends, colleagues and students. I know all OPSEU members at the colleges, and throughout the union, have Amy in their thoughts.”

As a nursing faculty member at Conestoga, Amy Stiles was the coordinator for the Personal Support Worker program at Riverside Glen in Guelph, where she conducted a “Living Classroom” with on-site learning for her students.
