The Vancouver Police Board is the employer and governing body of the Vancouver Police Department. It provides civilian governance and oversight
of policing.
Police Board Members
Under British Columbia’s Police Act,
the Board consists of the Mayor as Chair; one person appointed by the municipal council;
and up to seven people appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council.
Board members are chosen to reflect the demographics of the community.
They are people who have demonstrated that they can act in the community’s
best interest. Each Board member is appointed for a term of up to four
years. They may be re-appointed, but cannot serve for more than
six consecutive years.

Board Meeting Schedule
Please note that due to the current COVID-19 outbreak, members of the public will not be able to personally attend Board meetings until further notice.
The meetings will be conducted via conference call with the Board members.
As per our usual process, a taping of the meetings will be streamed to our Twitter (@VanPoliceBoard) as well as to this website.

Attend Board Meetings
The public is welcome to attend Board meetings.
For those wishing to attend only and not speak as a delegation, you will be met in the lobby by an officer who will escort you to the Board meeting room at
exactly 12:55pm.
No late arrivals will be allowed into the meeting.
Speak at Board Meetings
The Board is interested in hearing from advocacy groups or citizens about policing issues which affect the community.
If you wish to speak to the Board, please register as a delegation for this meeting at
office@vancouverpoliceboard.ca by providing your name and topic.
The Board reserves the right to limit the number of delegations.
