The Ryerson Rams men’s hockey team was eliminated from the post-season in a 5-1 loss to the Lakehead Thunderwolves Friday night at Fort Williams Gardens.
The Rams cut the deficit as close to 2-1 midway through the second period on a Jamie Wise deflection but three answered Lakehead goals could not be overcome.
Graduating members Andrew Buck and Dustin Alcock played their final games in a Ryerson uniform as they’re set to graduate and move on.
In a game reminiscent to game one of the series, the Rams fell behind early and failed to show the desperation needed in the game’s second half to claw their way back in.
Lakehead outchanced Ryerson in quality scoring opportunities and outshot them 35-28. Lakehead forward Cody Alcock had his second consecutive four-point game, playing hero again.
Lakehead’s tandem of Jeff Bosch and Justin McDonald in net left few second chance rebounds to be had for the Rams.
Lakehead will now play either the Western Mustangs or Windsor Lancers in the West division finals, for a berth in the Queen’s Cup OUA championship and a spot at nationals.
