The affordable housing buildings at 295 Gerrard St. E. and 365 Parliament St. are being slowly torn down as part of the five-phase revitalization of Toronto’s Regent Park neighbourhood. Currently the project is in Phase 3 and aims to transform the 1940s public housing experiment into a new community with mixed-income and mixed-use homeowners. The Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC) is coming together with the city to provide safe, clean homes for the community tenants. They are aiming to create a vibrant space where people can thrive within the community.  With no plans established for any buildings yet, the TCHC promises that new market rentals will be built once the demolition is complete. Back in 2014, Phase 3 began and is now expected to be complete by 2021.
