The Ryerson Students’ Union (RSU) has announced the first festival of the year and it comes with an apology.
Miguel, DJ Infinity and Jayemkayem were announced Wednesday morning as performers for the festival, named Sundown.
They round out Joey Bada$$, The Skins, Sean Leon and The Sorority, who were among the first acts released on Monday at sundown, 7:36 p.m.
The festival is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 22 from 4-11 p.m. at 20 Polson St.
The RSU followed the announcement with an apology. It addressed past issues with last year’s 6Fest regarding tickets sales, refunds and prices and said it recognized its shortcomings.
“Ticket prices are more affordable than they have been in the past,” said Susanne Nyaga, president of the RSU.
Last year pre-sale tickets went for around $40, while tier 2 tickets were priced at $116.66.
This time around, tickets are $25 plus tax.
The announcement highlighted what the RSU said is its dedication to providing students with an affordable event they can count on. It also noted the goal is to bring students “a meaningful experience and quality services that you can rely on.”
