Women’s hockey team captain Nella Brodett is starting a two-part campaign today to raise money and awareness for mental illness.
Brodett, who has suffered from depression on and off for the past two years, and teammate Emily Rose Galliani Pecchia started a Twitter campaign today that will raise money for Do it for Darren, an organization that helps youth suffering from mental illness.
For each tweet and re-tweet using the hashtag #RamsTalk on March 25, five cents will be donated to the cause. Ryerson Athletics will donate up to $2,000. The money comes from private donors.
“We just want to spread awareness and…show that there is help and there are resources and you aren’t alone and just to break the silence and get Ryerson University to join the conversation,” said Brodett.
Brodett had also organized a charity dodgeball tournament with a $10 buy-in for March 27 from 10 p.m. to 3 p.m.
