The Ryerson Commerce Society marked its 10th anniversary last night with a gala at the Mattamy Athletic Centre to formally launch its alumni association.
“If you close your eyes and imagine 10 years ago, if I said we’re going to celebrate something like this at the Maple Leaf Garden, you would’ve said ‘You’re on some bad medicine,'” said Ryerson president Sheldon Levy, one of the first speakers of the evening.
The RCS currently covers 27 student groups within the Ted Rogers School of Management and is funded by a $60 student levy. The society also received $200,000 in corporate sponsorships this year.
“You can’t possibly get to where we are in a decade, it’s too fast — but you did it,” said Levy.
