The Ryerson Students’ Union (RSU) expected budget for the 2014-15 fiscal year is now available online, after years of requests from students.
This comes after a motion was passed last November during the semi-annual general meeting to post all financial documents. Attendees said they were entitled to the information, as all undergraduate students pay a $60 mandatory fee to the RSU each year.
In this year’s budget, the RSU projects to receive $67,500 in revenue from the CopyRITE printing service, which is over 60 per cent less than the $174,000 earned in 2012-13. Graduate photo bookings are expected to rake in over $40,000.
Last year’s administrative and office expenses came in at $844,731, while election costs totalled $20,715. Bursaries and sponsorships paid out accounted for over $69,000 and is projected to increase by eight per cent to $74,900.
One of the biggest expenses is membership to the Canadian Federation of Students (CFS), on both the national and provincial levels. The expense amounts to $385,000.
