Ryerson’s startup incubator DMZ earned honours Wednesday as it was ranked the top university business program in North America by a research organization.
Swedish firm UBI Global looked at 60 university-based business incubator programs and announced 10 winners in this category.
According to a press release, the DMZ stood out from other incubators by meeting three indicators — economy enhancement, access to funds and post-incubation performance.
UBI Global said the incubator provided high-quality services to its startups.
The DMZ credited its success to their acceptance rate of 20 per cent or less, allowing “startups with high potential for success and growth” as part of the entrepreneurial environment in a post Wednesday.
The incubator ranked second in last year’s index.
Other Canadian universities included Calgary (3rd), Alberta (4th), Western (5th) and Carleton (7th).
