Canadian journalist Seamus O’Regan has joined Ryerson University’s Digital Media Zone and the Radio and Television Arts School of Media as a visiting innovator.
O’Regan will mentor RTA media graduate students and DMZ entrepreneurs and help promote their stories as a Ryerson ambassador off-campus.
“Students will benefit not only from Seamus’ distinguished academic background in media studies but also from his experience and expertise in television journalism and transmedia, especially in the area of entrepreneurship and innovation,” said Gerd Hauck, dean of the faculty of communication and design.
The Newfoundland native is the former co-host of CTV’s morning show Canada AM. He has covered news from Afghanistan to the 2010 Olympics.
His interview credits include Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Conrad Black and Bishop Desmond Tutu.
“Ryerson is a leading training ground and incubator for Canada’s future media professionals and digital innovators, so I’m grateful for this opportunity to contribute to its reputation and to support students in their career endeavours,” O’Regan said in a press release.
