TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) – Tanor Ngom, who averaged a double-double of 16.7 points and 11.5 rebounds for Ryerson University in Canada this past season, has signed a Grant in Aid to play basketball at Florida State for Leonard Hamilton and his staff.

Ngom (7-2, 236 lbs) averaged 10.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.8 blocked shots in 60 career games during three seasons at Ryerson University (2018-20). He shot .610 percent from the field (including .635 percent as a junior), .710 from the free throw line (including a career-high .813 as a sophomore) and blocked a total of 109 shots in leading the Rams to a 55-15 record while at Ryerson.

“Tanor is a great fit for our team in so many ways,” said Head Coach Leonard Hamilton. “He is quick and long which gives him the ability to block shots while guarding players in the paint and out towards the perimeter. He has a nice shooting touch and can get to the rim on offense. He has really improved his game while at Ryerson.”

Ngom was a starter in both of Ryerson’s OUA (Ontario University Athletics) post-season games in 2020, averaging 15 points, eight rebounds and 3.5 blocks in 21 minutes in games against Guelph University and Ottawa University in the quarterfinals of the national tournament.

“I can’t wait to get to work with Coach Hamilton and the Seminoles,” said Ngom. “Florida State is a great program and I’m humbled at the opportunity to become a part of the program.”

Ngom participated in the 2019 Nike Elite Skills Academy as the first player from a Canadian university invited to the program. The Nike Skills Academy hosted over 30 of the best high school prospects in America including current Seminole freshman Scottie Barnes.
