On top of preparing resumes and rehearsing answers for potential job interviews, there is one more thing for job seekers to consider – what to wear.
Studies find that most interviewers decide whether to offer someone the job within the first 30 seconds of meeting, based on what the applicant is wearing.
“Your appearance is usually the first thing that your employers see when you enter a room or when you first meet them,” says Wincy Li, a career education specialist at Ryerson’s Career Centre. “It factors into the interview process because it helps them form that first impression of who you are.”
While the Career Centre offers workshops, one-on-one appointments, and mock interview sessions, here are Li’s reactions to several potential outfits appropriate for job interviews.
More to come.
